Doctor Sophie’s Approach to Breast Reduction and Breast Lift
BREAST REDUCTION BASICS
Breast reduction is one of the highest patient satisfaction procedures in all of plastic surgery. Patients who have been struggling for years with their breasts can now wear clothing that fits, move more freely, lose weight by exercising efficiently, and sometimes even breathe better. The end result is a change in every part of your life, from looking your age, to looking your weight, to how you relate to your partner, and how the social world responds to you.

Q&A
What is Breast Reduction?
Is the procedure covered by insurance?
Is this an outpatient procedure?
How long does it take?
What is the recovery like?
And what about the scars?
Breast reduction surgery involves removing breast tissue and skin from the breast, and moving the nipple up. The end result is a lifted and lighter breast. There are many techniques, most of which involve removing tissue from the upper part of the breast, which is the area that lacks the most to begin with, especially in patient with very large breasts. Understanding how to remove tissue from the bottom part instead is a key to proper reshaping. Repositioning of the tissue to the upper part of the breast can also avoid needing an implant to fill that area.
Breast reduction may be covered by insurance, depending on your plan. The insurance company will often require a letter of medical necessity, evidence of problems like shoulder grooving from bra strap pressure, and a minimum amount of tissue to be removed for the procedure to be considered “medically necessary.” The surgery itself can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hrs, depending on the extent of work and your surgical team.
This is an outpatient procedure, and pain control can generally be well managed if your surgeon uses certain surgical techniques as well as strategic local and systemic anesthesia. Recovery requires a few weeks to heal the fresh wounds, and then a few more of restricted activity. Scars will depend on the pattern of skin removal. As a general rule, there will be scars around the nipple, vertically down from the nipple to the fold, and then across the fold itself. While there are techniques that limit these scars, the breast is a three dimensional structure; and proper skin shaping often requires three dimensional skin excision.
MY UNIQUE TECHNIQUE
My exclusive BREAST RESHAPING technique is critical to breast shaping and styling. Traditional lifting from the skin will only be temporary, and will result in a shape that is held from the bottom, like in a bra, rather than holding itself from the top, like a young perky breast.
My technique of moving the tissue to the upper portion of the breast and stabilizing it there recreates that young cleavage look, while giving you lasting support. No implant, no bottoming out. Just your breast back where it belongs!
Never Need a Bra Again!!!
“My breast reduction technique involves rearranging existing tissue to create cleavage and narrow the breast, while providing an internal support structure. My breast lift technique does not remove any existing breast tissue if the patient is happy with her size. It replaces tissue at the cleavage line, lifts the nipple, and supports a more youthful shape. In both cases, most patients no longer need to wear a bra.”
